About This Access Site
The Highway 90 Alt Bridge boat ramp provides access to the Colorado River near Altair in Colorado County, Texas. This is a recently improved LCRA-managed facility located on the south side of US 90A, approximately 3 miles east of Altair. The ramp is situated about 4 miles upstream of the Highway 95 TPWD boat ramp and 5 miles from Vernon L. Richards Riverbend Park in Smithville, making it a convenient launch point within a network of local access areas.

As a major river system (Stream Order 8), the Colorado River here supports boating, paddling, and fishing activities. The river features an average flow of 2,240 cubic feet per second with a moderate gradient, creating manageable conditions for kayakers and canoeists in this lower coastal reach. The area is suitable for day trips or longer paddles to nearby access points, with the river flowing toward the Gulf of Mexico approximately 897 miles downstream. Before launching, check current water conditions and river flows, as the Colorado River's volume and velocity can vary seasonally.
