**⚠️ CURRENTLY CLOSED:** The Highway 90 Bridge access site is indefinitely closed as of May 2024 due to significant structural deterioration of the deck supports identified by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD). There is currently no reopening timeline available.

**About the Pearl River:** The Pearl River is a major waterway (Stream Order 8) stretching 435+ miles from Mississippi into Louisiana, with substantial flow averaging over 13,000 cubic feet per second. Paddlers should be prepared for a powerful river with moderate current (3.7 ft/second average velocity). The river maintains a gentle overall gradient, but conditions can vary by location and water level.

**Alternatives:** While the Highway 90 Bridge site remains closed, paddlers should seek other Pearl River access points in the area, such as Pool's Bluff (located east of LA Highway 21 with a ramp below a lowhead dam—note portage is required). Always check current access conditions before planning your trip, as closures may affect multiple sites in the region.
