The boat ramp allows easy launching for kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats. With an average flow of over 1,200 cubic feet per second and a total drop of 909 feet over its 136-mile length, the Petit Jean is a sizeable river well-suited for recreational boating and fishing.
The recreation area is located approximately 11 miles southeast of Booneville, Arkansas, near the shadow of Mt. Magazine. In addition to the boat ramp, Hise Hill offers a dry camping area for tent camping adjacent to the river. Visitors can enjoy picnicking, sightseeing, and access to the broader recreational opportunities of Blue Mountain Lake. This is a popular access point for both paddlers and powerboaters exploring the Petit Jean River and the surrounding region.
