The Holy Ground Battlefield Park boat ramp provides access to the Alabama River, a major waterway in central Alabama. The river here is quite large, with a total length of over 300 miles, a drainage area of 22,634 square miles, and an average flow of nearly 35,000 cubic feet per second. The gradient is relatively mild, averaging 0.4 feet per mile.
This access point is located within the Holy Ground Battlefield Park, a day-use facility managed by the state. The boat ramp leads directly into the Alabama River, also known as Cooter Pond in this area. Visitors can launch canoes, kayaks, and small motorized boats from the ramp. An interpretive kiosk and trails throughout the park offer opportunities for birdwatching and exploring the historic battlefield site. The park is open year-round, but boat ramp passes may be required. Boaters and paddlers should be prepared for the large scale and swift current of the Alabama River at this location.
