About This Access Site
Homer Lake offers a concrete boat ramp in West Cook, Cook County, suitable for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats up to 18 feet. This access point provides entry to a backcountry lake with one designated first-come, first-served campsite that includes a fire grate, latrine, and picnic table. Note that motors are not permitted on the far western side of the lake, making that area ideal for paddlers seeking a quieter experience.

The lake serves as a backcountry destination accessible only by foot or boat, so plan accordingly for a more remote paddling experience. If you plan to stay overnight at the backcountry campsite, remember to hang food packs, fully extinguish fires before leaving, treat or boil all drinking water, and wash dishes and yourself away from the water source. There are no launch fees at this site.
