Homestead Parklands offers a convenient boat launch on Perch Lake, a 45-acre lake located 9 miles north of Hudson in northwestern St. Croix County. The park is situated along the northern half of the lake, with easy access via Perch Lake Road. This is a designated Wisconsin "Outstanding Water Resource," so paddlers should practice Leave No Trace principles while enjoying the area.
Perch Lake reaches depths of 60–90 feet and is surrounded by scenic oak woodlands and pine plantations on steep shoreline slopes. The park provides multiple recreational amenities including boat and canoe rental facilities, fishing access (including handicapped-accessible facilities), a swimming beach, and picnic areas. A St. Croix County park vehicle sticker is required for vehicle access; daily and annual passes are available. Note that vehicle access is seasonal (May 1–October 31), though walk-in and bike-in access may be available year-round at no cost. The nearby St. Croix Wetland Management District adds to the natural character of the area, making this a good destination for paddlers seeking a scenic, well-maintained lake access point.
