Located in Ashland within Hopkinton State Park, this access site offers a concrete boat ramp on the northern shore of Hopkinton Reservoir, an impoundment of Indian Brook created in the 1890s. The ramp provides excellent access for kayakers, canoeists, and non-motorized boaters. Ample parking is available at the ramp entrance off Rafferty Road, with additional parking options on Saddle Hill Road near the Duck Pond Trail entrance. Note that the ramp is designated for boat access only and cannot be used for general park entry after hours; trailer parking is available and enforced.
The reservoir is situated within Hopkinton State Park, which borders Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, and features mostly pristine, undeveloped shoreline ideal for paddling. Non-motorized boating is welcome, and boat rentals are available weekdays through online reservation or weekends in-person at the Boat House. The nearby Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge and John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor offer additional paddling and recreation opportunities within 20 miles of Boston.
