About This Access Site
Located at the south end of the dam on Hords Creek Lake, this Army Corps of Engineers facility provides convenient water access for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters. The ramp is part of the Lakeside Campground and Recreation Area, situated on the northern side of the 510-acre lake approximately 8 miles west of Coleman, Texas. Directions: From Coleman, take Highway 153 west for 7 miles and follow signs to the park headquarters on the west end of the reservoir.

Hords Creek Lake is a scenic impoundment (established 1948) with a maximum depth of 39 feet, making it suitable for various watercraft and activities. The lake is known for excellent fishing opportunities, including largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish. The campground offers full amenities including water and electric hookups at campsites, fishing piers, showers, and additional boat ramps throughout the grounds. Note that no marina or boat rental services are available on-site. The facility is partially open year-round but fully operational March 1 through September 30. For current conditions, closures, and reservations, contact (325) 625-2322. Please be aware that only card payments are accepted—cash is no longer accepted at USACE facilities.
