About This Access Site
Hords Creek Lake is a 510-acre reservoir located about 10 miles west of Coleman, Texas, offering a scenic paddling and boating destination surrounded by oak trees. The southeast boat ramp is located at the south end of the dam and provides access to this popular fishing lake. Maximum depth reaches 39 feet, making it suitable for various watercraft including kayaks, canoes, and motorboats.

The Lakeside Campground and Recreation Area manages this access site, which is fully open March 1 through September 30 and partially open year-round. The facility includes boat ramps, fishing piers, and is equipped with restrooms, showers, and a dump station. Camping is available with water and electric hookups at some sites. To reach the ramp, take Highway 153 west from Coleman for about 7 miles and follow signs to park headquarters on the lake's west end.

For current conditions and to verify access availability before your visit, contact Lakeside Campground at (325) 625-2322 or check Recreation.gov. Note that no marina or boat rental facilities operate on the lake, so bring your own watercraft. The lake is known for excellent fishing opportunities including largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish.
