About This Access Site
Horse Creek Reservoir State Wildlife Area provides boat access to the 2,180-acre Horse Creek Reservoir, also known as Timber Lake, in southeastern Colorado. The public boat ramp offers direct access to the reservoir for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters.

Horse Creek Reservoir is a relatively large, calm water body suitable for a variety of recreational activities. Anglers can fish for trout, bass, and other species from boats or the shoreline. Paddlers and motorized boaters can enjoy the scenic setting and explore the coves and shoreline of the reservoir. A valid hunting or fishing license, or Colorado State Wildlife Area (SWA) pass, is required for anyone 16 or older accessing the wildlife area.

The boat ramp is the only public access point to the reservoir within the state wildlife area. Facilities are limited, so visitors should come prepared with any necessary supplies and equipment. Those planning to spend time on the water should be aware of Colorado's boating safety laws and regulations.
