Horsethief State Park offers two convenient boat ramps for accessing water recreation near Dallesport—one launches directly into Horsethief Lake and another provides access to the Columbia River. This location is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboaters looking to explore the scenic Horsethief Lake area or venture onto the main Columbia River channel. The park facilities include picnic areas and nearby camping, making it a good base for a full day or overnight trip.
Horsethief Lake is a productive fishing destination stocked with rainbow trout and also supports largemouth bass, bluegill, and crappie, while the Columbia River offers broader recreational opportunities including boating, fishing, windsurfing, and kiteboarding. Keep in mind that the park is located adjacent to active railroad tracks, so expect occasional train traffic throughout the day and night.
