About This Access Site
Hot Pond Overlook provides public boat access to Lake Superior near Ashland, Wisconsin. Located on Highway 13 (a short distance north of the Nolander/Birch Grove roads and south of Wedal Road on the east side of the highway), this ramp offers a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats accessing the largest of the Great Lakes.

**Practical Information:** This is a busy access point, so be prepared for potentially congested parking and vehicle/trailer maneuvering, especially during peak seasons. Arriving early is recommended. The site provides direct access to Lake Superior's open waters, making it suitable for both recreational paddling and boating. Nearby paddlers may also be interested in exploring the Whittlesey Creek National Wildlife Refuge, a large coastal wetland complex on Lake Superior's south shore, offering scenic wildlife viewing opportunities.
