Located off I-45 between Huntsville and New Waverly, this boat ramp provides convenient access to 210-acre Lake Raven and Prairie Branch in Huntsville State Park. The two-lane ramp accommodates most boat types and is suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized vessels. A no-wake rule is enforced on the water. The facility includes parking, fishing piers, and fish cleaning stations for anglers pursuing bass, crappie, perch, and catfish.
Paddlers should be aware that alligators inhabit the park, so exercise appropriate caution while on the water or accessing shorelines. The lake's swampy margins—created by two inflowing creeks (Big and Little Chinquapin) with only Prairie Branch draining out—make for unique paddling conditions. The Prairie Branch side of the lake features additional amenities including a park store, boathouse, and access to hiking and biking trailheads, making this a good base for a full day of water and outdoor recreation.
