About This Access Site
Located on the south shore of 318-acre Hurricane Lake in the Blackwater River State Forest, approximately one hour northeast of Pensacola, this access site offers a well-developed launching point for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters. The site is reached via Kennedy Bridge Road off Beaver Creek Road north of SR 4 (also accessible from Hurricane Lake Road off Highway 4). As a scenic freshwater lake, Hurricane Lake provides calm-water paddling suitable for all skill levels, making it ideal for recreational boating, fishing, and wildlife viewing.

The South Campground features a boat ramp along with comprehensive facilities including primitive campsites, restrooms, picnic areas, potable water, and a dump station. The campground is open year-round and is maintained by the Florida Forest Service.
