Hyland Lake

Hyland Lake is an 84-acre lake in Bloomington with a maximum depth of 12 feet, offering a scenic paddling destination in the Hennepin County area. The public boat launch at Hyland Lake Park Reserve was recently improved, with the access road, boat ramp, and adjacent trail rebuilt in August-September 2024 to provide better surfaces and accessibility. Most launch ramps at this site can accommodate 12-18 foot boats, making it suitable for kayaks, canoes, and small motorboats.

The launch area includes a fishing pier and connects to nearby trails around the park, providing good opportunities for both paddling and exploring the shoreline. A vehicle permit may be required for park access. Whether you're launching a kayak or canoe for a leisurely paddle or bringing a small motorboat, this recently renovated facility offers convenient access to a peaceful inland lake. The nearby Mississippi River pools (Pool 1 and St. Anthony Falls Pool) provide additional paddling options for those interested in exploring larger waters.
