Illia Landing is a BLM-managed access point on the Snake River near Pomeroy, Washington, offering a concrete boat ramp and separate raft launch facilities. The site features a large pool for boat launches and a back channel designated for rafts, though the raft launch water can be swift with some erosion on the lower steps. Amenities include toilets and a public telephone, with parking available for day use only. Note that there is no water or camping on-site, and a Discover Pass is required.
The Snake River at this location is a major waterway with significant flow (averaging nearly 50,000 cubic feet per second) and moderate gradient. Paddlers should be aware of hazards downstream, including Waterspout Rapids (Class III-IV, located around river mile 233.7) where scouting from the Oregon side is recommended due to variable hole formations depending on water levels. The river's swift current and substantial volume make this suitable for intermediate to experienced paddlers.
