About This Access Site
Indian Creek Recreation Area, located in the Alexander State Forest in central Rapides Parish between I-49 and US Highway 165, provides a public boat launch onto Indian Creek Lake. The 2,600-acre recreation area is managed by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry and offers 24-hour access to its facilities. In addition to the boat ramp, the area features three swimming beaches, 104 campsites with water and electricity, three bathhouses, and over 75 picnic sites, making it a well-developed hub for multi-day paddling trips or day-use outings.

Indian Creek Lake offers opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and recreational boating in a scenic setting. The surrounding landscape includes longleaf pine hills and bayhead swamp habitat, with abundant wildlife including deer, raccoons, beavers, and various bird species. The recreation area also maintains over 2.5 miles of hiking and biking trails for those interested in exploring beyond the water. For boaters seeking additional services, Bridge City Marina and Resort operates nearby with fuel, bait, and guide services available.

It is a very well-developed and little disturbed bayhead swamp or acid seep forest that begins near the head of the Wild Azalea National Recreation Trail at the origin of a creek branch in sandy longleaf pine hills, and continues at least to where the flow enters Lemotte Creek. The swamp averages about 50 yards wide along the ill-defined flow of the stream, and is quite mucky in spots.
