About This Access Site
The Iron Gate Reservoir in Siskiyou County, California offers a scenic boat ramp access point for kayakers, canoeists, and small motorized boats. Located off Iron Gate Road, the Mirror Cove access site provides direct access to the 6-mile long reservoir.

The reservoir is a good destination for a variety of recreational activities. Anglers can fish for trout and bass, while paddlers and boaters can enjoy the calm, flat waters. Nearby, the Pacific Crest Trail offers hiking opportunities, and Emigrant Lake provides additional boating and recreation options.

Boaters should be aware that the campgrounds around the reservoir are being closed as of May 2023, as the dam that created the lake is slated for demolition. However, the boat ramp and reservoir itself remain open for day-use access. Paddlers and boaters should plan accordingly and check for any updates before visiting.
