About This Access Site
Island Lake County Park offers convenient public boat access via an earthen ramp located on Victoria Avenue south of I-694 in Hibbing. The 225-acre lake accommodates all types of watercraft, including kayaks, canoes, motorized boats, and sailboats, provided they meet Minnesota DNR safety requirements. The park includes additional amenities such as a fishing pier on the west shore, making it a multi-use recreation destination.

With a maximum depth of 32 feet, Island Lake provides adequate water for most paddlers and boaters throughout the season. The lake is popular with both anglers and recreational boaters, and paddlers will find access to a channel that runs beneath I-694. Before launching, check current wind conditions and water levels, and ensure your watercraft meets all state safety equipment requirements. The earthen ramp may have seasonal conditions that affect launch ease, so plan accordingly.
