Island Lake County Park offers convenient public boat access via an earthen ramp located on the north side of the 225-acre lake in Detroit Lakes, Becker County. The access point is reached from Victoria Avenue south of I-694. Island Lake accommodates all types of watercraft, including kayaks, canoes, motorized boats, and sailboats, as long as they meet Minnesota DNR safety requirements. With a maximum depth of 32 feet, the lake provides suitable conditions for both paddling and motorized recreation.
The park facilities include a fishing pier on the west shore near the boat ramp, making it a good destination for anglers and recreational paddlers alike. The area also offers opportunities to explore the channel underneath I-694. Island Lake's proximity to Detroit Lakes and the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge makes it an accessible option for day trips or longer outings in the region.
