Island Lake

Island Lake County Park offers public boat access via an earthen ramp located on the north side of the lake near Russell in Lyon County. The access point is situated within the park, with parking and facilities available. The ramp provides straightforward launch access for kayaks, canoes, and motorized vessels. A fishing pier is also available on the west shore south of the ramp for those interested in shore-based angling.

Island Lake spans approximately 225 acres with a maximum depth of 32 feet, making it suitable for various paddling and boating activities. All watercraft types are permitted on the lake, provided they meet Minnesota Department of Natural Resources safety requirements. Paddlers should note that I-694 crosses over the lake in an area where some boating activity occurs. The park is accessed via Victoria Avenue south of I-694, making it conveniently located for day trips in the Russell area.
