About This Access Site
Island Park provides boat ramp access to a large 7,000-acre reservoir formed by Island Park Dam on the Henry's Fork of the Snake River. Located in the scenic Island Park area about 60 miles north of Rexburg, this access point serves paddlers and motorized boaters looking to explore the main reservoir body, which is surrounded by lodgepole pine forest with views of the Centennial Mountains. The site accommodates both motorized and non-motorized watercraft, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters alike.

The reservoir is a popular destination for boating and fishing, offering a large open-water experience different from river paddling. Nearby alternatives include Buttermilk Boat Ramp (approximately 6 miles away) and access points along the Henry's Fork itself near the Yale-Kilgore bridge. Box Canyon Campground is located within 10 miles for those planning overnight trips. Note that the Henry's Fork area is known for excellent trout fishing, and water conditions may vary seasonally based on dam operations and releases.
