About This Access Site
Jackson Bay Recreation Area provides a convenient mid-lake access point on Fort Gibson Lake via a one-lane concrete boat ramp with paved parking. Located on the west side of the lake off N 50th Street E near Bixby, this ramp offers boaters and paddlers a practical launch site for exploring the expansive reservoir. The facility is designed to accommodate various watercraft, from kayaks and canoes to larger motorboats.

Fort Gibson Lake sits on the Neosho River (also called the Grand River), a major waterway with significant flow averaging over 10,500 cubic feet per second. This section of the lake is typically calmer than the river proper, making it suitable for paddlers of varying experience levels. However, those planning extended trips should note that the Neosho is a substantial river system with considerable downstream current when water is released from the dam, so check current conditions before paddling beyond the lake boundaries.

For paddlers accessing the water directly in front of the camping area, walking to the boat ramp is recommended for easier entry and exit. The site provides basic recreational access with parking, making it an accessible starting point for day trips or longer explorations of Fort Gibson Lake.
