Jackson Creek Park offers a free boat ramp providing access to Wright Patman Lake and the Sulphur River channel in northeast Texas. Located on the south shore of the lake in Cass County, this U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility is ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboat users exploring the expansive 30,000-acre reservoir. The ramp provides direct access to the scenic piney woods area and the calmer waters of the lake's upper reaches near the Sulphur River.
This is a primitive, no-fee access site with minimal amenities. Jackson Creek Park includes a vault restroom, picnic tables, and fire rings, making it suitable for day-use paddling or camping trips (limited to 14 days within any 30-day period). The park is open seasonally from April 1 to September 30. Anglers should note that bighead carp have been confirmed in the Sulphur River below the dam. The nearest developed campground is Malden Lake Campground, located within 10 miles.
To reach the ramp from Highway 8 north of Douglassville, travel approximately 3 miles and turn left following posted signs. From the south side of the dam via US 59, the access is 2.5 miles north of FM 3129.
