The James M. Robb - Colorado River State Park offers a convenient boat ramp for accessing the Colorado River near Clifton, Colorado. The ramp is located at the end of the west side parking lot, providing easy river access. Both hand-propelled and electric-powered boats can be launched here.
The Colorado River in this section is a medium-sized waterway with generally calm, slow-moving flow, making it well-suited for kayaking, canoeing, and other small watercraft. Paddlers can enjoy scenic views of the surrounding bluffs and natural landscape as they navigate the river. Boaters should be aware of the presence of zebra mussels in the Colorado River downstream of the 32 Road bridge, and take appropriate precautions to clean and inspect their vessels.
The park offers additional recreation opportunities nearby, including hiking trails at Gunnison River Bluffs and educational experiences at the Mica Mine/Rough Canyon area. Visitors are advised to check current conditions and any potential closures before planning their visit.
