About This Access Site
Jentell Brees Access is a boat ramp facility located on the Missouri River in Saint Joseph, Missouri, near the Kansas border in Buchanan County. This access point provides bank launch capability for kayaks, canoes, and other motorized and non-motorized boats on one of North America's major river systems. The site sits within a Missouri State Conservation Area, and both fishing and boating activities are permitted on the water.

The Missouri River at this location is a significant waterway characterized by strong currents and substantial flow. As a major river system (Stream Order 10), expect an average flow of approximately 121,400 cubic feet per second and average water velocity of 7.4 feet per second. The river's 3.9 ft/mile gradient means moderate current conditions typical of the lower Missouri River. Paddlers should be prepared for the river's power and plan accordingly, particularly during high water periods. The broad drainage area (418,761 square miles) and major tributary system mean water levels and conditions can change rapidly.

Before launching, consult current Missouri Wildlife Code regulations for any special rules applicable to this conservation area, and check real-time river conditions and weather forecasts. This is an excellent access point for paddlers and boaters looking to experience the historic Missouri River corridor.
