Joe Sheldon Park, located 1¾ miles west of Humboldt in Humboldt County, offers convenient boat ramp and dock access to the West Fork of the Des Moines River. The park's lower campground area (2250 Sheldon Road) houses the primary launching facilities, making it a straightforward put-in for kayakers, canoeists, and motorboats. The 80+ acre park is well-developed with amenities including restrooms, showers, picnic areas, and nearby camping options.
Beyond the water access, Joe Sheldon Park provides excellent support facilities for a full day of paddling or boating. The park features multiple campsites with water and electric hookups, cabin rentals, and approximately three miles of multiuse trails. An 18-hole disc golf course and archery range offer additional recreation options. The facility is affordable and family-friendly, making it a solid basecamp for exploring this section of the Des Moines River.
