About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** The John D. Long boat ramp is located on the western shore of Lake John D. Long in Union County, South Carolina, approximately 3 miles west of Lockhart and 7 miles northeast of Union. Access the ramp via Black Bottom Road, which connects to Highway 9. The site is handicapped accessible.

**What to Expect:** This 80-acre impoundment on Hughes Creek offers a public boat ramp and fishing pier, making it a straightforward launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and small boaters. The lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, shell-cracker, and catfish. Note that boating is restricted to paddlecraft on this water body, so it's well-suited for kayaks and canoes but may have limitations for motorized boats. The lake's relatively small size makes it ideal for a casual paddle or fishing trip.
