About This Access Site
K. H. Butler Access provides public boat launch facilities on Flatfoot Creek near its confluence with the Ohio River in Crown City, Gallia County. This ramp offers convenient access to both the tributary creek and the mainstem Ohio River, making it suitable for kayakers, canoeists, and motorized boaters. The site is located at river mile 284 on the Ohio River, within the Robert C. Byrd Pool section managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

**Getting There:** From S.R. 10, cross the river on Route 852 into Ohio, then exit right onto RT 73/104 toward Portsmouth. Continue as this road becomes 2nd Street, then turn right on Court Street and proceed through the flood wall to reach the ramp.

**What to Expect:** The Ohio River in this region offers boating, fishing, and recreational opportunities with relatively moderate current due to the lock-and-dam system. Flatfoot Creek itself provides a quieter paddling alternative. Nearby, the Robert C. Byrd Visitor Center features exhibits about the locks and dam operations, with viewing areas overlooking the lock chamber where you can watch boats transit through. This access point is part of Gallia County's four public Ohio River launch locations and serves as a gateway to one of Ohio's most significant recreational waterways.
