About This Access Site
The Kabetogama Lake Visitor Center provides public access to Kabetogama Lake, a sprawling 24,000+ acre water body located 25 miles south of International Falls off Highway 53. This north shore access point serves as a gateway for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters heading into Voyageurs National Park's extensive lake system. The facility includes a boat ramp, dock/pier access, parking for vehicles and boat trailers, and benches for staging. The visitor center itself operates seasonally (late May through late September, and January through March), though watercraft access from the lake to the marina area remains open as conditions allow.

Paddlers launching from this location have excellent opportunities to explore the calm, scenic waters of Kabetogama Lake and access Voyageurs National Park's 218,000-acre backcountry. The site offers visitor parking on the northwest side near the Historic Ranger Cabin District. For current conditions, facility details, and information about organized boat tours and beaver dam sightings, contact the Kabetogama Lake Visitor Center at (218) 875-2111. Note that the facility is not ADA accessible, so plan accordingly if accessibility is a concern.
