Kayak Point County Park offers year-round access to Port Susan, a saltwater bay located on the east side of the water body across from Camano Island. The park features a single-lane boat launch with a floating dock that operates seasonally (spring through fall); the dock is removed during winter months. A daily or annual launch permit is required before launching. Be aware that high tides and storms can bring debris to the launch area, so plan your visit accordingly.
The launch conditions vary with the tide—at low tide the main launch provides good landing, but at high tide, paddlers and boaters may want to use an alternative launch near the pier approximately 100 yards south. Kayak Point Park itself is a well-developed facility with 3,300 feet of shoreline, offering additional amenities including picnic areas, camping (including yurts), hiking trails, and pier fishing. This location makes it a convenient starting point for exploring Port Susan's saltwater paddling opportunities.
