About This Access Site
The Kenai River boat ramp provides access to the large, fast-flowing Kenai River near the town of Soldotna, Alaska. As a major river system in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, the Kenai offers excellent opportunities for kayaking, canoeing, and motorized boating.

The Kenai River is a substantial 6th-order stream, flowing for nearly 100 miles with an elevation drop of 410 feet and an average flow of over 1,000 cubic feet per second. Paddlers and small boaters should be prepared for the river's large size, moderate current, and changing conditions. The section of river accessible from this ramp is designated as "drift-only," meaning no motorized boats are allowed.

The boat ramp is located just off the Sterling Highway, about 18 miles from the eastern boundary of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Parking and launching are available, though specific fees or hours may vary. Visitors are encouraged to contact the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge at 877-285-5628 for the latest information before planning their trip.
