Located off Messina Road about 10 miles west of Alexandria in Rapides Parish, this U.S. Forest Service facility provides excellent access to Kincaid Reservoir, a scenic 2,600-acre lake partially within Kisatchie National Forest. The East Boat Launch features a paved ramp with extended parking, a floating dock, and flush restrooms—ideal for kayakers, canoeists, and recreational boaters. The site is reservable through Recreation.gov, and nearby Kincaid Lake Campground offers convenient overnight accommodations.
Paddlers should note that the reservoir has tree stumps and submerged remnants from its forested past, so boat access is limited to well-marked channels. Approach these obstacles cautiously, especially at lower water levels. Beyond water activities, the area offers excellent recreational opportunities including the Lakeshore Trail trailhead, which connects to the Wild Azalea Trail, Lamotte Creek Trail, and other scenic hiking options throughout Kisatchie National Forest—making this a good basecamp for a multi-day outdoor adventure.
