Kingfisher Landing provides boaters and paddlers with convenient access to the vast Okefenokee Swamp in southeast Georgia. This boat ramp on the northeast side of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge offers a straightforward put-in for canoes, kayaks, and small motorized watercraft.
From the boat ramp, you can explore miles of scenic canals, marshes, and waterways that wind through the Okefenokee's unique wetland ecosystem. The swamp's slow-moving, blackwater channels offer excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, with the chance to spot alligators, wading birds, and the refuge's namesake kingfishers. Paddlers and boaters should be prepared for the swamp's calm but deep waters and potential for changing weather conditions.
Facilities at Kingfisher Landing include an informational kiosk, restrooms, and access to the refuge's hiking trail system. The boat ramp is open during normal refuge hours, but overnight camping is not permitted at this day-use site. Visitors should check current refuge regulations and plan their trip accordingly to make the most of this peaceful gateway into the Okefenokee Swamp.
