About This Access Site
Klum Lake Wildlife Area in Port Louisa offers a 2-lane boat ramp and two additional primitive ramps on the lake's east side, making it a convenient access point for paddlers and small boaters. The site is located within the Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge, a 24,149-acre protected area managed for migratory birds and wildlife. A day-use parking fee applies ($6 per vehicle), and the facility includes picnic tables, campfire rings, and restroom/shower facilities.

**Important note for boaters:** The lake is shallow with thick aquatic vegetation, making it suitable primarily for small watercraft like canoes, kayaks, and duck boats with mud motors. Regular motorboats are not practical due to limited water depth. If you're planning to camp in the area, Klum Landing offers 30 primitive campsites (no hookups) that open seasonally. This is an excellent spot for paddlers exploring a wildlife-rich environment and ideal for birdwatchers and naturalists looking to access the refuge's protected wetlands and backwater areas.
