**Important Note (Effective Nov. 19, 2025):** The boat ramp and parking lot are currently closed due to renovations and are unavailable for all vehicles and watercraft, including canoes and kayaks.
When operations resume, Koreshan State Historic Site offers a convenient launch point onto the Estero River, a scenic waterway that is part of the Great Calusa Blueway. The ramp provides access to a beautiful estuary system characterized by mangrove shorelines and calm, protected waters ideal for paddling. Beginners and casual paddlers will find the upstream sections manageable, with comfortable paddling available a mile or two inland from the launch.
The site offers excellent amenities for a full day of recreation, including 60 campsites (with glamping options available), picnic areas, and hiking trails. Kayak rentals are available through Estero Bay Outfitters and other vendors in the area. The Estero River's connection to the broader Calusa Blueway system makes this an excellent base for exploring extensive paddling opportunities throughout Southwest Florida's coastal waters. Before visiting, confirm that renovations are complete and the ramp is operational.
