About This Access Site
The Kuttawa boat ramp provides convenient access to Lake Barkley and the scenic Cumberland River system in western Kentucky. Located at Old Kuttawa Recreation Area on the northern shores of Lake Barkley near the narrow canal connecting to Kentucky Lake, this launch point offers paddlers and boaters access to one of the region's premier freshwater recreation destinations. The ramp is easily found just 0.25 miles south of I-24 on KY-295—take Highway 62 west, turn south on KY-295, and look for the ramp on the left side past the dam.

The recreation area itself features amenities including a swimming beach and picnic facilities, making it suitable for a full day of water-based recreation. While the facility is not ADA accessible, it does offer a campground with reservable sites for those planning extended visits. For paddlers interested in exploring the connected waterways, the proximity to both Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake creates excellent opportunities for varied paddling experiences. For current conditions, facility details, or campground reservations, contact the Lake Barkley Resource Managers Office at 270-362-4236.
