About This Access Site
La Salle Lake offers convenient water access in north-central Minnesota near Itasca State Park. The recreation area features a concrete boat ramp on the north end of the lake, along with a separate canoe launch area—ideal for paddlers looking to keep their launches distinct from motorized traffic. The lake is 221 acres with a maximum depth of 213 feet, providing good water for both kayaking and canoeing.

The site includes a fishing pier, picnic area, and campground facilities. **Note that parking is very limited**, so plan accordingly during peak times. The lake supports healthy populations of walleye, northern pike, largemouth bass, crappie, and bluegill. For those interested in expanded paddling opportunities, the recreation area connects to the Mississippi River system. The surrounding landscape features beautiful red and white pine forests with old-growth timber, making for scenic paddling and exploration. Located near Solway in Hubbard County, it's conveniently situated about 15 minutes north of Itasca State Park.
