About This Access Site
Located at McDonald Canal in Montverde, this boat ramp provides excellent access to the scenic north shore of Lake Apopka and the connected Tsala Apopka Lake chain. The ramp is particularly well-suited for kayakers and canoeists, as well as smaller motorboats. From here, paddlers can explore Little and Big Lake Henderson and venture into the protected Tsala Apopka system, making it an ideal launch point for a variety of paddling adventures.

The A-B Canal (Apopka-Beauclair Canal) serves as the main waterway connecting the ramp to Lake Apopka's wilder northern reaches. Larger vessels may find the Wayside Park facility more suitable, but the McDonald Canal Ramp is specifically designed to accommodate smaller craft. Note that motorized vehicle access to the adjacent Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive is limited to Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays, so plan your visit accordingly if you're hoping to explore the surrounding area by car before or after your paddle.
