The Lake Carlos West access site is a concrete boat ramp located on the north shore of this 2,605-acre lake in Alexandria, Douglas County. The ramp is flanked by two wooden docks and is well-suited for launching kayaks, canoes, and larger motorboats up to 12-18 feet. With a maximum depth of 163 feet, Lake Carlos offers plenty of water for recreational paddling and boating activities.
This scenic glacially-formed lake features clear, smooth waters ideal for paddlers of all skill levels. The north shore location provides good access during peak paddling seasons. Nearby amenities and a lower campground area are available, and there are no launch fees unless a vehicle permit is required for state park access. The surrounding landscape includes tamarack bogs, marshes, and woodlands, making it an attractive destination for both water recreation and scenic exploration.
