Lake Chicot's South Landing offers convenient access to one of South Central Louisiana's premier freshwater paddling and fishing destinations. Located at Chicot County Park on the lake's south side, this ramp provides launching facilities for kayaks, canoes, and motorboats onto the 2,000-acre lake. The South Landing is a full-service facility featuring a boat launch, fishing pier, dock with rental boat options, picnic areas, and a playground, making it suitable for both day-use visitors and those planning extended outings.
The cool, clear waters of Lake Chicot are known for excellent fishing opportunities, with record catches of largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and red-ear sunfish. Paddlers will appreciate the scenic bottomland hardwood forest setting and can access an extensive hiking/backpacking trail that encircles the entire lake. The state park is open year-round, and overnight accommodations including cabins and campsites are available for visitors interested in multi-day trips. Additional boat ramps are located at the North Landing and in nearby Lake Village if needed.
