Lake Corpus Christi State Park offers boat access to the 21,000-acre Lake Corpus Christi reservoir on the Nueces River, located near Lake City in San Patricio County. The park features two boat ramps accommodating most vessel types, including kayaks and canoes. **Note: As of August 2025, the Opossum boat ramp is open; the Mesquite ramp remains closed.** To reach the facility from Mathis, take Texas Highway 359 south 7.5 miles, turn right on FM 534, travel 8.5 miles north, then follow the access road approximately 3 miles to the ramp.
The reservoir supports a healthy fishery with largemouth and white bass, crappie, catfish, and panfish species. In addition to boat access, the park features two fishing piers (one 400 feet long and wheelchair accessible) and is a significant water source for Corpus Christi. Paddlers should verify current conditions and ramp status before visiting, as facility closures may occur. The expansive lake provides good paddling opportunities for both recreational boaters and anglers.
