The Lake Davis Recreation Area (Honker Cove) boat ramp offers convenient water access for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters on the scenic Lake Davis. Located next to the Grasshopper Flat Campground on the east side of the lake, this public facility features a paved two-lane concrete boat launch ramp and a seasonal loading dock.
The ramp is accessible by taking Frenchman Lake Road (Highway 284) north from Highway 70, about 7 miles north of the city of Portola. In addition to the boat launch, the recreation area provides a paved parking lot, vault toilets, and seasonal flush toilets and showers. While the Honker Cove ramp is currently closed for renovations, an alternate launch is available at the Camp 5 Boat Ramp on the west side of Lake Davis.
Lake Davis is a sizeable reservoir covering over 4,500 acres, offering excellent paddling, fishing, and boating opportunities. Kayakers and canoeists will find protected coves and inlets to explore, while power boaters can enjoy the open lake. Visitors should check current conditions, as the ramp's availability and services may vary seasonally.
