The Lake Davis Recreation Area (Mallard Cove) boat ramp provides access to the scenic Lake Davis in Plumas County, California. This site is well-suited for launching small watercraft such as kayaks, canoes, and small motorized boats.
The boat ramp is located on the east side of Lake Davis, about 7 miles north of Portola, CA. It features an unpaved parking area, vault toilet, and day use area with picnic tables. Recent improvements have added two accessible parking spaces with a paved pathway leading directly to the top of the boat ramp, as well as three additional picnic sites with new tables, shade structures, and paved access.
Lake Davis is a large, relatively calm reservoir offering excellent opportunities for paddling, fishing, and other water recreation. Boaters and paddlers should be aware that swimming and diving are not allowed near the boat ramp area. A day use fee of $10 is required, with an annual pass available for $85. The nearest campground is Crocker Campground, located within 10 miles of the site.
