About This Access Site
Lake Desire is a 71-acre freshwater lake located just 3 miles east of Renton in King County, offering a convenient launch point for kayakers, canoeists, and small boaters. The public boat ramp is situated on the north end of the lake and features a gravel launch with an accessible dock and ADA parking available. A Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife vehicle use permit is required to access the site. Restroom facilities are on-site, and the launch is open year-round, though fishing is restricted September 1 to July 4.

The lake supports a healthy fishery with rainbow trout, largemouth bass, yellow perch, and pumpkinseed sunfish, making it popular with anglers. The relatively small size of the lake makes it ideal for recreational paddling and family outings. To reach the ramp from Auburn, take Highway 18 east to Maple Valley (Highway 169), then head back over Highway 18 toward Renton. Be sure to obtain your required WDFW permit before launching.
