Located in Brownstown Charter Township on the shores of Lake Erie, this 140-slip marina provides convenient water access for kayakers, canoeists, and boaters. The facility features a carry-in boat launch accessible via the main park entrance on West Jefferson Avenue (just north of Huron River Drive). Amenities include parking, flush restrooms, and full marina services. The site is situated within the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge, an Audubon Society Important Bird Area, making it an excellent spot for bird watching and wildlife viewing in addition to paddling.
Lake Erie offers excellent conditions for motorboats and larger vessels, with the area known as prime walleye fishing country. Paddlers launching here should be aware that they're entering a large, open water body with conditions that can change rapidly. The marina's protected waters provide a good launching point, but paddlers should exercise appropriate caution when venturing into open lake conditions. The surrounding area also provides access to nearby recreation, including hiking trails, bike paths, and the Marshlands Nature Center, making this a good basecamp for a full day of outdoor activities.
