About This Access Site
Located just one mile from downtown Copper Harbor, the Lake Fanny Hooe boat launch at **Fort Wilkins State Park** provides convenient public access to this 227-acre lake. The ramp includes a dock facility and is situated within the park, which requires a Michigan Recreational Passport or day-use permit for entry. This makes it an ideal starting point for kayakers and canoeists exploring the scenic northern Michigan waters.

Lake Fanny Hooe is a long, narrow lake well-suited for paddling exploration. The water body supports healthy populations of walleye, brook trout, splake, smallmouth bass, and largemouth bass, making it popular with anglers as well. The lake borders 250,000 acres of pristine northern wilderness, offering excellent opportunities for day trips and wilderness exploration.

The area offers good amenities for visiting paddlers and boaters, including nearby camping facilities at Fort Wilkins State Park and additional lodging and camping options in the Copper Harbor area. Plan ahead and bring your Michigan Recreational Passport or purchase a day-use permit before arrival.
