Lake Fort Phantom Hill is a 4,213-acre reservoir in Abilene offering multiple boat launch options for paddlers and boaters. The lake's maximum depth of 66 feet provides plenty of water for recreational use, and four boat ramps are available when water levels are full. When the lake is low, two additional ramps operate at Johnson Park. The main public boat ramp features a multi-lane launch, lighted parking for 50 vehicles, a courtesy dock, and picnic facilities, operating year-round.
This access point is ideal for kayakers and canoeists seeking calm-water paddling on a larger reservoir. Johnson Park offers a dedicated kayak trail in addition to the boat ramps, making it an excellent choice for paddlers. The area provides good shore fishing access and several picnic spots, along with restrooms and restroom facilities. **Important reminder:** Always clean, drain, and dry your boat, gear, and any water-holding equipment before leaving to prevent the spread of zebra mussels and other aquatic invasive species—this is required by law.
