About This Access Site
**Location & Access:** Lake Gilmer's public boat ramp is located on the northeast corner of the FM 852 bridge, approximately 4 miles west of Gilmer in Upshur County. From downtown Gilmer, take Texas 154 west, continue past the Texas 271 intersection, then turn right onto FM 852 and travel 2.5 miles to the lake. The ramp provides access to Kelsey Creek and Lake Gilmer, a 1,010-acre impoundment in the Cypress River Basin.

**Lake Characteristics & Paddling:** Lake Gilmer offers a substantial paddling venue with 1,010 surface acres and a maximum depth of 28 feet. The lake is suitable for kayaking and canoeing, with relatively calm, reservoir-style conditions. Note that portions of the lake include a designated Kelsey Creek Sanctuary with restricted access areas marked as "No Public Access"—paddlers should respect these boundaries. The site includes park facilities and nearby nature trails for those interested in combining water and land activities.

**Contact & Planning:** For current conditions, water level information, or specific questions about access restrictions, contact the Lake Ranger at (903) 843-8209. The facility is managed by the City of Gilmer as a public recreation area.
