About This Access Site
Lake Murphysboro State Park offers convenient water access via two dedicated boat ramps located in Murphysboro, Jackson County. The park entrance is easily accessible off Highway 149 via Lake Access Road—simply follow the signs to the main entrance. The park office features a paved parking lot with concrete sidewalks at ground level, providing accessible facilities for launching kayaks, canoes, and motorized boats.

**Important regulations to note:** All boats with motors over 10 HP must operate at no-wake speed on this lake. Swimming is not permitted at Lake Murphysboro. The park does not have concessions on-site, so plan accordingly. Fishing is limited to pole and line only, and tournaments have restrictions. For assistance or questions, contact the park at 618-684-2867 or reach out to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Fish Biologist at 618-559-5009.

The state park offers three campgrounds within its boundaries, making it a good option for paddlers planning a multi-day outing. While there are no amenities available at the lake itself, the established park infrastructure and dual boat ramp access make this a straightforward launching point for recreational boating and paddling activities.
